Do you know what the conference call is? I doubt you don't because today this is one of the most useful technologies especially for people who run an important international business. The service conference call gives everybody the opportunity to attend their meeting from every part of the world without a problem and without any extra payments. It is not very hard to hold a conference call, but there are a few things you should avoid in order not to fail it.
You may consider it funny but there are many cancelled conference calls because of the lack of somebody. People can very easily forget something even as important as a meeting. So, if you are the one to arrange the call, you should remind everybody about it with an e-mail, for instance. It would be smart to leave a note even for yourself in order not to be the one who is absent.
Do not miss to get familiar with the behaviour and protocol for the conference call. It is important to know that you have to introduce yourself when you start speaking because this type of meetings are different from those when the participants can see your face. Do not interrupt your colleagues because it is rude and annoying. It is even recommended to mute the call every time when you stop speaking.
The lack of knowledges about the equipment is another important factor that can fail your conference call. As we said above it is recommended to mute your call but if you want to do it, you need to know where the mute button is. It is not a shame to ask where the microphone is, in case you don't know. Sometimes it is hard to learn to deal with the newest technologies.
Pay attention of the background noises because they can be very annoying. Take a pen and a sheet of paper because the noise from the buttons of your PC is really unpleasant. Turn off the sound of mobile phones and radios and choose a place which is quiet and where no body will disturb you.
If you want to enjoy a pleasant and useful conference call, all you have to do is to avoid these mistakes and everything will be fine. As you can see, it is very easy to fail it.
